Sooke Herald reporters went mad to see that Renaat, Krista, and Pierre once again triumphed in the gruelling race, setting new records, and causing a lot of upset for hardened professionals. Last years' winner was quoted as saying - "They are unbeatable. I'm going to take up golf instead."

Sponsors were unsure the event would attract the same attention next year, as the tremendous trio of Renaat, Krista, and Pierre, had caused such despondency in other competitors.
